Reports are going wild on the Internet that the final ‘Twilight’ installment will be in two films, according to MTV. The studio is staying quiet and not leaving comments.
The final installment in the ‘Harry Potter’ films will be split into two parts to fit everything in and now ‘Twilight’ fans have suspected for a while that the final ‘Breaking Dawn’ will be the same way.

Soon, very soon now, the ginormously popular series of "Harry Potter" film adaptations will come to an end. The first part of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is set to hit theaters in November and the second will follow mere months later, capping off the seven book/eight movie franchise in July 2011.

It's been known for a while now that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" filming would be wrapping up this spring (around the same time the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be opening!) but I think I can speak for all "Harry Potter" fans when I say that it's hard to picture the decade long franchise actually winding to a close.

LOS ANGELES - Once a corset queen in prim, proper costume dramas, Helena Bonham Carter has spent her time lately playing all manner of foul women.
Fanatic Bellatrix Lestrange, a disciple of evil Lord Voldemort in the "Harry Potter" movies. Vile Mrs. Lovett, who grinds murder victims up as meat for pies in "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." A crazy old witch with an eyepatch and hair as brittle as straw in "Big Fish."
Now Bonham Carter's playing the bratty Red Queen in "Alice in Wonderland," digital wizardry giving her a monstrously bulbous head atop a tiny body as she repeatedly shouts with glee, "Off with their heads!"

As part of its Nominee Questionnaire, Oscar.com has a new interview online with Bruno Delbonnel, who has been nominated for an Oscar for Achievement in Cinematography for "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." The cinematographer - who has worked on "Amélie" and "Across the Universe" - discusses his childhood dreams, his decision to switch from directing to cinematography and the hurdles in his career, alongside discussion of "Half-Blood Prince" itself. In response to a question about the biggest challenge Delbonnel faced whilst working on the film, the cinematographer said:

Sometimes I wish I was a kid again. I grew up in a cinematic climate that was decidedly lacking in fantasy film franchises. Sure, we had a few great singular films to fall back on from time to time, but Hollywood wasn't throwing money hand over fist at every popular young-adult literary franchise that came along in the hopes of finding the next big thing. Us adults might not be fans of all the Percy Jacksons that come our way, but kids who love the multiplex should be in heaven these days.

When Universal Studios opened Islands of Adventure, the second of its big attractions in Orlando, it hoped that by jamming super-scary roller coasters, Jurassic Park, Spiderman and Dr. Seuss into one fun park, it would at last pose formidable competition to Walt Disney World.
It never really did. Though Islands of Adventure enjoys respectable visitor figures, it has been outdone by the constant expansion of Disney parks. By creating weeklong passes that sell at an attractive discount, Disney has been able to give visitors a mighty financial incentive to confine their visits solely to Disney properties. They play a hard game in Mouseland.

First the good news: boys are reading as much as girls. Now the bad: the books they choose are far less challenging and easier to comprehend than those selected by girls, and this gets worse as they grow older.
The findings of a major study of 100,000 children's reading habits coincide with national curriculum test results which show that – at all ages – girls score more highly on reading tests. "Boys are clearly reading nearly as much as girls, a finding that may surprise some onlookers," said Professor Keith Topping, of the University of Dundee's school of education, who headed the study. "But boys are tending to read easier books than girls. The general picture was of girls reading books of a consistently more difficult level than boys in the same year."

The professor of Russian has, on occasion, used the translation of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone to make some point or another about the language.

In the land of Story there must always be conflict. If there is one internationally renowned writer who has built an audience around the cunning manipulation of "What happens next, Mummy ?" it is JK Rowling. And if there is one global bestseller whose fairytale success attracts the gremlins of envy and greed, it is Harry Potter.
This column has been no friend of Ms Rowling's. Hers is a tale I would gladly leave to others but there is something about the mischievous allegations of plagiarism that requires comment. Ms Rowling will speak through her lawyers. Here is my submission to the court of literary opinion.

Voted the world’s greatest rail journey – outranking both the Orient Express and the Eurostar - for the second year running last month, Scotland’s West Highland Line is renowned for its breathtaking scenery including the famous 21-arch Glenfinnan viaduct featured in the Harry Potter film series.
Network Rail, the owner-operator of Britain’s rail infrastructure, can only undertake de-vegetation work when it is essential to the safe running of the railway. The result has been loss of views along much of the length of the railway through Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, particularly in summer when the trees and shrubs are in full leaf.

HOLLYWOOD — First, it staked its claim among Hollywood's most immensely successful franchises of all time. Then, it was announced that the final movie would be split into two. Last month, it was revealed that those two movies would be released in 3-D.
If you think you can't get any more excited for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," think again. Because Helena Bonham Carter is ready to spill the beans on the upcoming films — and her info is more delicious than a bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans.

Last week, "Harry Potter" author J.K. Rowling was named as a defendant in a lawsuit in a London court. It's not the first time that Rowling has faced such charges. This time, the estate of author Adrian Jacobs claims that key concepts appearing in her book "Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire" were lifted from Jacobs's 1987 book "The Adventures of Willy the Wizard." Rowling calls the charges absurd; the Jacobs estate, instead, says the suit is "a billion-dollar case."

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is expected to open in Orlando by late May. Billed as a “theme park within a theme park” at Universal Studios, the magical microcosm is expected to enchant Muggles (non-magical people) of all ages.

SYDNEY (AP) -- J.K. Rowling has been named in a lawsuit alleging she stole ideas for her wildly popular and lucrative "Harry Potter" books from another British author. Rowling denied the allegation.
The estate of the late Adrian Jacobs on Wednesday added Rowling as a defendant in a lawsuit it filed in June against Bloomsbury Publishing PLC for alleged copyright infringement, according to a statement released by the estate's representatives, who are based in Australia.

It's hard to grasp the fact that, in a little more than a year, the "Harry Potter" film saga will finally be over. Sure, it will have taken four years since the release of J.K. Rowling's final "Harry Potter" novel for the final film to hit the screen, but it's still a bit of the magic that we'd like to have dragged out longer.
Thanks to Universal Orlando's newest addition to Islands of Adventure, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the magic will be new and fresh for many years to come, but the ending of such an important story to modern pop culture is something to be mourned.

One of my passions in life is children’s literature, and of course, I’m a huge Harry Potter fan. My four-year-old loves the HP movies (yes, I know they’re scary, but they don’t bother her, so I let her watch them), and I’ve seen them all several times, and a few nights ago, we were watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for the tenth time.

Somewhere at Hogwarts School a wizard is working on a powerful anti-mimicry spell. "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief" echoes J.K. Rowling's mythological world so closely, with its magical young half-bloods and crowded canvas of supporting deities, that a hex must be brewing.
Percy, a teenage New Yorker, discovers that his long-absent father, a "dazzling" guy who vanished after impregnating his mom, was none other than Poseidon, god of the sea. (There are a lot of guys on the Jersey shore imitating Greek gods; this one meant it.)

I made the rounds at Islands of Adventure this morning before the downright British weather moved in. I enjoy watching Universal Orlando guests get excited about Wizarding World of Harry Potter (”Look! It’s the clock tower!”), even though some of the young ones are about to be crestfallen because it’s not open yet.
