Well I was close wasn't I? Neville was indeed necessary for Voldemort to die, and Harry was "dead" already when Neville intervened.
However, I did not predict Harry cheaping his way out of being dead himself, nor JKR cheaping her way out of killing the dark lord by having his own curse kill him again.
I was one off, I said both dead at the end, but only one truly died.
Same question, was this the ending you expected?

I can't honestly answer that because I was a little snoop and found (on the wonderful Internet) a fairy accurate list of everyone who dies in Book 7. So I was expecting pretty much what happened.

Death is part of war, and it usually comes to those who are least deserving. I think she wanted the book to have emotional impact and this was the easiest way to do it.
